I've got two and couldn't be happier with them. Zinc coating is an issue when the hardware is hot-dip galvanized, which leaves a lot of zinc on the fittings that can easily be chewed off by aggressive beaks. Electroplated zinc has a zinc-coating in the same way that a penny has a copper coating. The coating is bonded incredibly well to the material underneath -- I wouldn't dismiss the gyms based on that criteria alone. Just to be safe, I'll remove the metal toy hangers attached to the end of the perches, which he sometimes plays with.
